TREK has been commissioned to develop the Local Action Plan (LAP) for Oinousses Island under the GReco Islands Initiative, a national programme designed to support Greek islands in achieving sustainable growth, energy autonomy, and improved quality of life. TREK is currently developing a comprehensive, evidence-based, and participatory plan to define the island’s strategic direction, fostering long-term resilience, social cohesion, and sustainability. The project is being implemented in full alignment with the GReco Islands Charter and the existing Master Plan.
TREK is tasked with identifying and prioritizing development opportunities for the island, analyzing current conditions, and proposing a coherent strategy for sustainable growth. Specifically, TREK is assessing energy and environmental priorities, social and economic development potential, and resilience measures, while incorporating input from local stakeholders and the community.
Furthermore, TREK is designing an implementation and investment framework, outlining strategic actions, funding approaches, and governance mechanisms to ensure that the plan will be actionable and sustainable over time. This will enable the Municipality to prepare for funding programmes, attract investments, and implement sustainable development initiatives effectively.
The project adopts a holistic approach, integrating technical, administrative, financial, managerial, and participatory expertise, with the objective of delivering a fully implementable Local Action Plan and establishing Oinousses as a benchmark for sustainable development within the framework of the GReco Islands Initiative.
