A series of working meetings was held by the Mayor, George Daniil, aimed at speeding up the implementation of major projects on the island.
The Mayor of Oinousses, George Daniil, accompanied by his special advisors, Kalliopi Barbaris and Michalis Politis, spent two days in Athens attending important working meetings. The objective was to ensure proper planning and to accelerate as much as possible the major projects included in the GreCo Islands initiative, the Integrated Territorial Investments (ITI) for the Small Islands of the North Aegean, as well as in the “Philodimos II” program and the Green Fund.
On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, they attended the highly successful Technical Knowledge Transfer Meeting organized by M.O.D. S.A. in collaboration with the General Secretariat for ESPA, held at the Royal Olympic Hotel. The progress in the preparation of the Local Action Plan—being developed by TREK Development—was found to be satisfactory, while many questions raised by all the small islands were addressed. Participating mayors and representatives of beneficiary municipalities had the opportunity to gain insight into key aspects of the program and to exchange experiences and views on accelerating procedures, as the publication of calls for proposals has already begun.
On Thursday, March 19, 2026, they held comprehensive working meetings with partners at M.O.D. S.A., reviewing—together with its head, Ilias Kanellopoulos, and experienced staff—the progress of individual project files. These included both the Urban Redevelopment and the Conference Center, as well as preparations for certification by the Regulatory Authority for Energy, Waste and Water (RAAEY) regarding water management.
This was followed by a working meeting with the administration and staff of the Network of Greek Cities for Development (DEPAΝ), where studies, projects, and the coordination of their monitoring were thoroughly examined (Indoor Sports Hall, Energy Upgrade of the Primary School, Redevelopment of Gymnasium courtyards, Stadium, etc.).
At the same time, successive meetings were held with the ITI working group at EETAA and with the planners of the Redevelopment project. Within the framework of GreCo Islands, there was also the opportunity to meet with representatives of the Managing Authority of the North Aegean, Efstratios Mouflouzelis and Irini Zourou, to discuss ongoing project issues, as well as with the CEO of the “DAFNI” Network, Kostas Komninos, regarding the trails project.
