TREK to execute a Pan-european project initiative for the development of various types of co-operative economy schemes led by SMEs and other Public and Utility entities, at local and regional level. The project deals with the creation of a cross country network of SMEs and co-op economy entities, aiming towards empowerment and exploitation of cooperative economy into the local, regional and National economy Policies. Duration of the project is 18 months and Contracting Authority is the Decentralized Region of Epirus-Western Macedonia. Project budget is 94.500 euro.
Epirus, Greece, is known for its cultural heritage and landscape wonders, however nowadays the region has few resources and industries, and its population has been depleted by emigration. As a result local government is struggling to enhance ways to promote economy for the benefit of its citizens. One of its measures, to be realized through this project, is the development of a co-operative economy scheme, with takeholdres local SMEs, Public authorities, regional entities and other local community players. Main goal is to promote regional clusters and other co-op forms among different entites. Namely, the project actions, most of which are to be executed by TREK Consulting are:
Design and practical formation of the so called co-op economy model
Establishment of monitoring and evaluation procedures for the co-operative economy (best practices, benchmarking, legal and administrative framework)
Assistance for the creation of co-op clusters, pilot implementation
Creation of co-op Observatory
Dissemination and follow-up activities
