TREK to sign a Project Development & Project Finance Technical Assistance with the Region of South Aegean, Greece. Assistance to be provided for the analysis, modeling and management(project & contractual) of a 37 Million EUR Energy savings and Renewables infrastructure consisting of LED/Smart street lighting, Energy efficiency & RES in Public Buildings, as well as Energy Communities deployment in the Islands of the Aegean. Duration is 2 years with service budget of 438.000 EUR.
The Region of South Aegean is at the Southeastern part of Europe, consisting of hundreds of small and mid-size islands. Well known as one of the best touristic attractions of the Mediterannean, with iconic sites such as Myconos, Santorini, Rhodes, Kos, Andros, and many other sea-jewels consisting the constellation of Cyclades & Dodecanese. However, lack of efficient and modern energy infrastructure facilities, is of the most important obstacle towards sustainable development. Isolation from main land, scarce climatic conditions, innefficient Power interconnectivity among islands and old fashion lighting system are among the main issues TREK has been engaged to tackle with.
Within the scope of a large scale Project Development & Finance scheme, supported by the European Commission and the European Investment Bank (EiB), TREK has been engaged to provide full scale Advisory & Technical Assistance services for the construction and deployment of Energy Infrastructure across the Region. Works for TREK include Engineering assessment, financial modelling and contract Management for Street Lighting upgrade with LED systems (approx 75.000-90.000 lights), Energy efficiency in Hospital buildings and Public Infrastructure (approx 120.000 m2 of building space), as well as RES Infrastructure facilitating the Energy Communities”concept. The latter is the first time to be introduced in E.U. and enjoy support by the EiB.
